A new bird flu outbreak was reported in northern Ninh Binh province, bringing the number of affected provinces to seven, the Veterinary Department announced on February 24.

The H5N1 virus was found in a poultry farm in Khanh Hoa commune, Yen Khanh district, leading to the cull of 15 chicken, 26 gooses and nearly 300 ducks, which had not been vaccinated.

Other provinces that have not yet declared themselves free of bird flu are the five northern provinces of Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Hai Duong, Quang Ninh and Nam Dinh and the southern province of Long An.
