Two tortoises and a dolphin were released into the sea on September 22 by the Fisheries Resource Protection Department of central Ninh Thuan province, said Nguyen Trung Kien, Head of the department.

The two tortoises, each weighing over 100kg, had been seized by the department ‘s officers during their investigation of rare wild animal trafficking in Ninh Phuoc district.

 

The 30-kg dolphin, measuring 1.3m, had been caught aground and reserved by a fisherman in Ninh Hai district.

 

Meanwhile, a group of dolphins was recently seen in the sea area of Van Don district, northern Quang Ninh province, according to Nguyen Thanh Phuong, vice director of Bai Tu Long national park.

 

The dolphins, whose scientific name is Lipotesvexinnifer, had not been seen in the area for decades.
