The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) on August 28 announced 23 players, who will play for the national squad in three international friendly matches from September 4-23.

The line-up includes two young prospects, defender Nguyen Gia Tu from V Ninh Binh and midfielder Nguyen Sa from SHB Danang, who will have the chance to play for the national squad for the first time.

Tu, who performed very well in the 2012 V-League season, is considered a good replacement for injured veteran Phuoc Tu.

However, he will have to compete with Minh Duc and Dinh Luat, who have already proven their abilities in numerous international matches.

In addition, head coach Phan Thanh Hung will have the services of Viet Cuong, Dinh Dong, Van Bien and Van Phong, who can play defensively both in the wing and central positions.

Some prominent names that were not called up for the two previous gatherings will be playing this time including goalkeepers Duong Hong Son and Tan Truong, winger Vu Phong and striker Quang Hai.

The team is scheduled to arrive in Kuala Lumpur on September 9 to play against Southeast Asian defending champions Malaysia. They will then fly to Indonesia for a match with the hosts on September 15, and return to Vietnam to face Indonesia again a week later.
