Due attention should be paid to developing human resources for the natural resources and environment sector in the next 10 years, said Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan.

Mr Nhan made the request at a working session with leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) in Hanoi on February 26.

The Deputy PM praised the sector’s active role in developing human resources and predicting demand for workers, and emphasised that it should focus on training staff in a more practical manner.

He outlined a number of measures to overcome the shortage of human resources in the sector and proposed MONRE organising a national conference on the supply of workers in August 2010.

Mr Nhan, who is also MOET Minister, said that the Government will agree in principle to the establishment of two universities specializing in natural recourses and the environment.
