The Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petro Vietnam) plans to begin construction of the Ca Mau fertilizer plant in Khanh An commune, U Minh district, Ca Mau province in July.

The plan was approved by Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai. PetroVietnam signed an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) project contract with Wuhuan Engineering Co, Ltd, and China National Machinery Import-Export Corporation.

The plant is part of the Ca Mau gas-power-nitrogenous fertilizer project with total investment capital of US$900 million. It will be built on 52 hectares and designed to produce 800,000 tonnes of fertilizers per year.

As planned, the plant will be built over 43 months and be put into operation using the Italian advanced technology.
