The first Asian Fine Arts Museum Directors Forum opened in Beijing, China on August 31 to strengthen relations between fine arts museums in Asia, especially in ASEAN member countries and those in the three dialogues (China, Japan and the Republic of Korea).

Director of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum Truong Quoc Binh said the Vietnamese delegation has prepared reports to introduce the museum’s fine arts activities. “We emphasised the need to preserve and conserve work of art in Vietnam in the tropical weather and asked for China’s cooperation in preserving silk and paper paintings. In addition, we will cooperate in exchanging fine arts exhibitions between Vietnam and China”, he said.

The forum is part of major activities under the framework of ASEAN Cultural Week, which will be held in Beijing from August 31 to September 6. The forum will close on September 2.
