Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) now has a self-defence force of more than 400 members to protect its headquarters in Hanoi and other branches nationwide.

A meeting to review its efforts in implementing the government’s resolution on national defence was held in Hanoi on December 22 with the participation of VOV Director General Vu Van Hien and representatives of the Defence Ministry.

Addressing the meeting, Deputy Director General of VOV Dao Duy Hua affirmed that the national radio broadcaster has adhered to the state’s resolutions on defence and has actively joined hands with local military services to organize military drills for its self-defence force. VOV has also taken the initiative in building up its reserve force for this purpose.

On the occasion, which coincides with the Vietnam People’s Army Day, VOV held a meeting for its staff who formerly served in the army.
