Belgium furthers support for Vietnam, HCM City

Belgium pledges to increase assistance projects for Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City, in particular in health care, human resources training, and waste treatment.

President of the Belgian Senate Christine Defraigne, who is on a visit to Vietnam for the first time, made the remark at a meeting with Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan in the city on November 5.

She said the relations between the two countries have been thriving with investment cooperation projects growing in number, significantly contributing to the development of respective societies.

To this end, she hopes Belgium’s friendship and collaboration with Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City will continue across sectors.

For his part, Chairman Quan said the rapports between Vietnam and Belgium have grown vigorously since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1973.

Particularly, HCM City and Belgian localities have supported each other in wide-ranging domains such as health care, education-training, and waste treatment, he noted.

The western European country has effectively supported HCM City to carry out the family-doctor model and Soai Rap dredging project, the host said.

He assured the guest that HCM City will spare no effort to step up the friendship and collaboration between the two countries.
