Vietnam's plastic sector expects to fetch around US$580 million from exports in 2007, a year-on-year increase of 21.3 percent.

To reach the target, the Ministry of Industry has asked local plastic producers to boost the application of advanced technologies and boost exports to potential markets such as the US and the European Union.

They were also urged to expand projects to turn out high-quality plastic products to meet increasing demands in the world market.

In addition, the ministry encouraged producers to coordinate with the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group in developing concrete projects which will produce plastic materials to serve domestic production.
