Seventy experts from various technical schools in Asia are attending a four-day international seminar on sustainable development, which opened at the campus of RMIT International University Vietnam in HCM City on July 2.

They represent India, Myanmar, the Republic of Korea, the Philippines, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Pakistan, Russia, Australia, the UK, the US, Norway, Germany, France, and Vietnam, according to Dr Iris Bergmann, member of the RMIT Institute for Research on Changes and Sustainability in Societies.

The focus of discussions is on sustainable development and dissemination of strategies, from which arise problems relating to programmes and policies.

The seminar is aimed at providing a chance for countries to share their experience in technical and vocational education and training. The seminar papers will be later published in a series of books on vocational training by the UNESCO’s International Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (UNESCO-UNEVOC) as material for policymakers and researchers from various countries, especially UNESCO member countries.

The seminar is being co-organised by RMIT International University and UNSECO-UNEVOC with funding from many international organisations.
