According to the Hanoi Statistics Department, the city’s consumer price index (CPI) in February is estimated to rise by 3.92 percent compared to the previous month.

Almost all the prices of goods rose during the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday. Fresh food and foodstuffs such as chicken, beef, fish and pork and vegetables represented a sharp increase of 7.15 percent in price.

The prices of drinks and cigarettes showed a slight decline compared to the previous year due to the very cold weather even though the consumer tastes remained unchanged.

By February 25 some food went down but vegetables were still high in price.
