The newly-elected Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee on Monday afternoon held the first conference to elect the Political Bureau, the Secretariat, the Party General Secretary, the Committee’s Inspection Commission and its Director.

A press release was issued on April 24 on the seventh working day of the 10th National Party Congress under the chairmanship of Nguyen Van An.

On behalf of the Congress Presidium, Nguyen Phu Trong presented a report on the gathering and settlement of delegates’ opinions on congress documents. After hearing the report, candidates voted on several issues in congress documents.

The results of the voting were announced by Nguyen Van Yeu from the Vote Counting Committee.  According to Mr Yeu, the congress decided to elect 21 alternate members of the Party Central Committee, instead of the 25 as planned.

Later, delegates introduced candidates to the post of the Party General Secretary from among the 160 official members newly elected to the 10th Party Central Committee (PCC).

On the afternoon of April 24, the 10th PCC held the first conference to elect the Political Bureau, the Secretariat, Party General Secretary, the PCC’s Inspection Commission and Director of the PCC’s Inspection Commission.
