A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on bilateral economic cooperation was signed in Hanoi on August 18 between the Department of Overseas Investment under the Ministry of Planning and Investment and Japan’s Okayama province.

Under the MoU, the two sides will co-organise seminars to promote investment in Vietnam and introduce Vietnam’s investment environment to Japanese enterprises.

The two sides will regularly share information relating to each side’s investment situation.

Okayama, with a population of 1.9 million, is among the top 15 leading provinces in Japan with its gross domestic product (GDP) reaching US$60 billion.

Among the province’s 153 enterprises investing abroad, five have poured their capital into southern Binh Duong province, Ho Chi Minh City and northern Hai Phong port city.
