Vietnam and Norway have signed a project to ensure occupational safety and control environmental pollution in the petrol and oil sector and an agreement to finance a factory treating solid waste in Sam Son town, northern Thanh Hoa province.
The signing ceremony took place in Hanoi on December 4 with Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Cao Viet Sinh and Norwegian Ambassador Kjell Magne Storlokken as signatories.
Accordingly, the Norwegian Government will provide US$1.2 million in non-refundable aid for PetroVietnam Corporation to develop an efficient management system for reducing accidents and negative impacts on the environment. It will also offer about US$150,000 to the second project, which is expected to improve the environment of Sam Son town and nearby Quang Xuong district.
