The Learning Disabilities Association of Canada (LDAC) presented 280 wheelchairs to people with disabilities in Can Tho City and some Mekong Delta provinces, including Vinh Long, Soc Trang and Hau Giang, on February 18.
The wheelchairs, worth over VND200 million, were donated by the overseas Vietnamese community in Canada with the aim of helping disabled people get around easier, making daily life more convenient and increasing their opportunities to approach social services and integrate into society.
Over the past few years, Can Tho’s Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients has mobilized nearly 3,600 wheelchairs to support the handicapped in the locality.
Since 2009, the association has received nearly 700 wheelchairs and mobility equipments, valued at more than VND415 million, from the LDAC.
