The Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (COVA) held a meeting with the winner, the runners-up and other beauties of the Miss Vietnam Global 2007 Contest in Hanoi on September 6.

Tran Trong Toan, COVA vice chairman praised the charity activities conducted by the beauties after the contest. He said that the Miss Vietnam Global 2007 event played an important role in strengthening the relationships of Vietnamese communities around the world, particularly the younger generations.

He said he hopes after the contest the overseas Vietnamese beauties will further improve their cultural knowledge, take part in more activities involving the homeland, and act as a bridge between Vietnam and other countries.

Beauties at the meeting said the contest has provided them with a good chance to exchange, learn from each other and help them make new friends during the contest.

Miss Ngo Phuong Lan said the contest is a cultural playground for young Vietnamese people around the world, helping them to understand more about the homeland. She said she now feels more responsibility for helping other young overseas Vietnamese to understand about Vietnam.

Meanwhile, first runner-up Teressa Sam said she has been deeply impressed by the beauty of the homeland and the hospitality of Vietnamese people. She said when she returns to the UK she will spend more time learning and speaking Vietnamese.
