A series of colourful and diverse activities will take place in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to mark European integration day (May 9), announced the delegation of the European Commission to Vietnam at a press briefing in Hanoi on April 22.

Starting with a photo installation exhibition entitled Hanoi Transformation on April 29, “Europe Days” will continue with events to present many aspects of Europe: “united in diversity” and rich in experience, interests and aspirations which are increasingly at the centre of the multifaceted relationship between Vietnam and the European Union.

A European Film Festival will especially focus on children and teenagers, while a Silent Film Concert will be held, featuring Fritz Lang’s 1921 classic Weary Death, accompanied by a full of symphony orchestra from the Conservatory of Music under the baton of Pierre Oser from Munich.

Other events include a Fashion Gala with designers from France, Italy, Spain and Vietnam, three other photo exhibitions, a Spanish music night, a European culinary show, a painting contest on gender equality, a friendly football match between Vietnamese children and their peers from European Union (EU) member countries in Vietnam, and a symposium on EU-Vietnam trade relations.

Addressing the press briefing, Ambassador Herve Bolot from France, which is holding the EU Presidency, noted that “We are very proud of what Europe has achieved over the past years, including stability and prosperity. Many new EU member countries have developed long-lasting ties with Vietnam, thus promoting the relationship between the EU and Vietnam.”
