EVN breaks ground on new phase of thermal power plant

(VOV) - Vietnam Electricity (EVN) has ceremoniously broken ground on a VND22.700 billion addition to its Duyen Hai 3 thermal power plant located in Mu U Hamlet, Dan Thanh Commune, Duyen Hai District, Tra Vinh Province.

At the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to the 4.348MW Duyen Hai Power Centre saying it will be vital to the power supply for the southern region starting in 2018.

It also contributes to the socio-economic development of the Mekong River Delta region, generating both jobs for the region and revenues for the Tra Vinh province budget, Deputy PM Hai said.

The Deputy PM assigned the EVN and the Power Generation Corporation 1 (Genco 1) to oversee the project, asking them to ensure quality and timely complete it within 42 months. Sumitomo corporation (Japan) is the EPC General contractor for the project, which consists of 1 unit (660 MW), with a 3.9 billions kWh annual power output and harbor No. 2 (including station, wharf and dredging parts etc) for receiving coal and oil.
