Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a project to improve economic growth and the economy’s competitiveness.

10 solutions are detailed in the decision including stabilising the macro-economy; improving the quality of the human resources; developing the infrastructure and adjusting the investment policies; changing the patterns of the economy with a focus on advantageous sectors; developing economic regions, industrial parks and clusters; improving the effectiveness of the foreign direct investment; developing and strengthening the business community; taking avantage of the country’s natural resources and minimizing environment pollution; improving production-related sectors such as labour force, technology, capital, and land; and speeding up administrative reforms.

Under the PM’s decision, by December 2011, 10 industries will be selected by the Ministries of Planning and Investment and Industry and Trade for restructuring.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs are requested to make more effort to improve the capacity of administrative agencies at all levels and report back to the Government by the end of 2011.
