Party General Secretary Manh made the suggestion on January 29 during his two-day inspection tour of the province to the province. The Party leader asked the local authorities to play an active role in the Mekong delta region to serve the country's current economic integration. He also gave advice on effective implementation of preferential policies to attract domestic and foreign investors, especially those from HCM City.

Both local authorities and investors should pay due attention to building infrastructural facilities and services in industrial zones, he added.

Mr Manh noted that the local authorities should take greater care of people in remote, mountainous and disadvantaged areas with a focus on human resources by increasing investment in the education sector and building a system of vocational training schools to contribute to the nation's current economic development.

The provincial authorities were also required to help Typhoon Durian victims' families to return to normal life and production.
