NA Chairman’s speech before Myanmar Parliament

(VOV) - National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung has told a July 25 plenary session of the Myanmar Parliament in Nay Pyi Taw that Vietnam priotizes developing all-round cooperation with its fellow Southeast Asian nation.

In his first speech before the Myanmar Parliament, the NA Chairman confirmed Vietnam’s interest in expanding cooperation with Myanmar for mutual prosperity and regional peace and stability.

Hung said his visit honours the traditional relationship between the two nations.

He congratulated the Myanmar Government and people on their recent achievements, highlighting the promotion of national unity, economic development, living standard improvements, and expanded external relations.

Hung believes the Myanmar Parliament will win its people’s trust and fulfill its responsibilities in national construction and development.

NA Chairman Hung emphasised past successes in Vietnam-Myanmar relations that benefited the peoples of both nations.

The regular exchange of high-level delegation visits people-to-people diplomacy has helped further promote mutual understanding and trust.

Vietnam and Myanmar recognise hidden threats to regional peace and security, including East Sea tensions, emerging security risks such as climate change, rising sea levels, epidemics, and limited water resources.

Both sides are also concerned by internal and external matters damaging ASEAN’s global prestige and the united efforts required to address them.

Hung stressed deepening the time-honoured friendship between the two nations is a prerequisite for realising the aspirations of their peoples.The NA Chairman said recent achievements are only a stepping-stone to the future growth of the relations between both nations and their two legislative bodies.
