National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Van An confirmed that Vietnam always attaches great importance to developing relations with neighbouring countries and other countries in the region, especially its traditional relations with Belarus.

NA Chairman Nguyen Van An was speaking while receiving the Belarusian President’s special envoy Konofiev Nikolaevich in Hanoi on February 24.

At the reception, the envoy, who is also Chairman of the Belarusian House of Representatives, said that the visit aims to bolster and develop the traditional friendship and comprehensive co-operation relations between the two countries.

Mr Nikolaevich conveyed the best regards from Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to the Vietnamese Party and State leaders and briefed hosts on Belarus socio-economic and political situation in recent years. He emphasised that Vietnam and Belarus should strengthen friendship and investment co-operation in the future. 

NA Chairman An also expressed sincere thanks to the Belarusian State, Government and people for their valuable assistance to Vietnam’s national liberation cause in the past, as well as in the current cause of national construction and development. 

He also agreed with Mr Nikolaevich that the two countries should strengthen efforts in implementing the signed agreements in order to further promote the economic, trade and investment relations between Vietnam and Belarus.
