World Bank (WB) officials said they were pleased with the quality of the schools built under the WB project on primary education for disadvantaged children and highly appreciated the effective decentralization of the project, especially the clear definition of responsibility at each level.

The successful implementation demonstrates the transparence of Vietnamese administrations at different levels in implementing international aid projects on education, they added.

The delegation of WB and donor representatives inspected the implementation of the project in Hanoi and Long An, Kon Tum, Lao Cai, Lai Chau and Quang Nam provinces and the Central Highlands during a field tour from May 7-17.
