Vietnam and Italy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Hanoi on April 20 to boost co-operation between the two business circles.

Signatories were Doan Duy Khuong, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and Cav Lav Gaetano Cola, Chairman of the Naples Chamber of Commerce.

Under the MoU, businesses of the two countries will speed up information exchanges and work out solutions to overcome common obstacles through meetings and market studies. Vietnam will also receive assistance from Italy in personnel training, targeting commercial policy-makers and experts in market analysis and forecasting.

Mr Cola stressed that Italian enterprises have attached great importance to boosting co-operation with Vietnamese partners, especially in such promising areas as dairy production, shipbuilding, services and handicrafts. He added that the Naples Chamber of Commerce plans to open a representative office in Vietnam in 2006 to seek more trade opportunities in the country.
