Cambodian Deputy PM arrives in Vietnam

(VOV) - Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister General Tia Banh and his high level entourage have begun a three-day working visit to Vietnam at the invitation of General Phung Quang Thanh.

Speaking on December 12 at a welcoming ceremony, General Thanh said the visit will help strengthen and deepen the comprehensive cooperative relationship between the two countries.

He thanked the Cambodian government for its support in seeking and repatriating remains of Vietnam soldiers who died during the past wars and affirmed Vietnam always stands ready to assist in Cambodia’s national construction and defence process.

The two ministers briefed each other on the political, economic, social, defence and security situations in each country, reviewed defence cooperative results for 2015 and discussed upcoming cooperative measures.

They agreed to focus cooperation on increasing the quality and quantity of exchange visits, implement a large number of joint sea patrol, improve border management and speed up the repatriation of Vietnam fallen soldiers.

Additionally, the two leaders agreed that defence cooperation in recent times has brought about practical benefits for both sides and have become one of pillars in relations between the two countries.
