The Vietnam Paper Corporation (VINAPACO) has set a target of earning a turnover of nearly VND3.7 trillion from 284,000 tonnes of paper in 2006, said the corporation’s general director Vo Sy Dong at a meeting held in Hanoi on January 13.

To this end, the corporation will strengthen its debt management after being equitised, scale up marketing programmes, seek new markets, and diversify its products for export, Mr Dong said.

He also pointed to the need for the corporation to rearrange its agent networks, work out measures to reduce production costs and improve techniques.

At the meeting, participants proposed that the Government create favourable conditions for concerned businesses to get easier access to loans and Official Development Assistance (ODA). The move will help them expand raw material-growing areas and foster pulp production so as to ensure sustainable material supplies for paper mills.

In 2005, VINAPACO earned nearly VND3.3 trillion from selling about 258,000 tonnes of paper.
