Deputy PM welcomes China Culture Minister

(VOV) - Vietnam-China relations have developed positively in all areas, including culture, since the establishment of their comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership.

Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh made the remark while receiving Chinese Minister of Culture Cai Wu in Hue city on April 19, on the sidelines of the 6th meeting of the ASEAN Ministers Responsible for Culture & Art (AMCA).

Minh said the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community is one of the three key pillars of the ASEAN Community to be established in 2015, designed to connect cultures of all ASEAN countries and between ASEAN and its partners (China, Japan and the Republic of Korea).

He welcomed Cai’s participation in the meeting, which he said will help strengthen cultural cooperation between ASEAN and China.

The Deputy PM placed importance on cultural and art cooperation between Vietnam and China, which he said lays foundations for strengthening bilateral partnership and promoting mutual understanding.

He revealed cultural cooperation is one of the prioritised areas to be discussed at the upcoming meeting of the Vietnam-China steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation.

For his part, Minister Cai voiced China’s support for the building of the ASEAN Community. He said there will be 150 activities to be held during the cultural exchange year between ASEAN and China in 2014.
