VND5 billion for needy children in Mid-Autumn Festival

The National Fund for Vietnamese Children (NFVC) has raised more than VND5 billion to present gifts and scholarships to children during this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival.

The money will allow the NFVC to offer 1,070 gifts to disadvantaged children in 17 provinces and cities. As many as 1,470 scholarships, each worth VND3 million, will also be awarded to children in 13 Mekong Delta provinces.

100 more VND2-million scholarships as well as 100 bicycles were given to disadvantaged children in Lao Cai and Yen Bai Provinces.

Provincial NFVC chapters have also mobilized funds to assist needy children across the country. Services offered include free surgery, wheelchairs, numerous scholarships, and the improvement of local educational and entertainment infrastructure.

The traditional festival is celebrated on the 15th day of the eight lunar month. This year it falls on September 30.
