The first American Film Week opened in Hanoi on May 3 and will start in HCM City on May 7.

The week is being organized by the Hollywood-based Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which presents the Oscars each year.

Some of the films to be shown include Erin Brokovich, LA Confidential, The Quiet American, Children of Men, Wrestling With Angels and Field of Dreams.

Films are set to play at the National Cinema Centre in Hanoi and the Nguyen Trai and Galaxy Cinemas in HCM City.

A limited number of free tickets are available at any of the theatres.
