Cambodian, Vietnamese NA leaders meet

National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung met with Cambodian National Assembly President Heng Samrin in Phnom Penh on June 10. 

The top Vietnamese legislator is in Phnom Penh to pay tribute to late President of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and President of the Senate Chea Sim, who passed away on June 8. 

At the meeting, he conveyed the profound condolences of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, State President Truong Tan Sang and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung to Cambodia’s King Norodom Sihamoni, NA President Heng Samrin, Prime Minister Hun Sen and people. 

He spoke highly of the deceased’s role and contributions to Cambodia’s nation-building and development and to consolidating and enhancing the Vietnam-Cambodia friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation. 

The host thanked the Vietnamese leaders and people for their sympathies. 

Delighted at the fine development of bilateral ties in all fields, Heng Samrin expressed his gratitude for the valuable support of the Vietnamese Party, State and people to Cambodia at all times. 

Both leaders agreed to maintain and consolidate the two countries’ time-honoured friendship and all-round cooperation for the interest of their people and for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.-V
