More than 100 delegates from Vietnam, African countries, foreign missions and academies shared experiences in economic reform and development at a seminar in Hanoi on March 30.

High on the agenda of the seminar were topics relating to administrative reform, state renewal and building legal systems in order to accelerate the socio-economic development process in Vietnam and Africa. Delegates also shared experiences with Vietnam and African countries in market-oriented economic reform, as well as in regional and international integration.

In his speech, Prof. Do Hoai Nam, President of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, said Vietnam and Africa share many similarities, such as in building independent states and carrying out the industrialisation process from poor and backward countries. These similarities create favourable conditions for co-operation and mutual support between Vietnam and Africa to ensure their sustainable development, he said, adding that Vietnam and Africa are making every effort to implement renewal policies for socio-economic development.

South African Ambassador to Vietnam, Dr Leonado Pitso, expressed his hope that by exchanging experiences in economic reform and development, delegates will put forth measures to further promote co-operation between Vietnam and African countries.
