Around 20 teams with 40 car racers from Vietnam and Laos will take part in the first off-road racing championships, the “Ha Long Challenge 2012”, to be held in the northern province of Quang Ninh on June 2-3.
Participants will be divided by engine size into three different catergories: up to 2,000cc, 2,000-3,000cc, and over 3,000cc, and they will race in six stages of increasing degrees of difficulty.
The event is co-organised by the Quang Ninh provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Hanoi Offroad Club (HOC).
HOC Chairman Tran Manh Hung said the organizing board has received technical consultation from Luis J.A. Wee, the founder and creator of the Rainforest Challenge in Malaysia, China and Sri Lanka.
