Two former footballers of the Thai national team, Nirut Surasiang and Sakda Joemdee, were officially naturalized, the German coach and managing director of the Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) club confirmed on January 15.
The club will work with the Gia Lai provincial Department of Justice to conduct a ceremony to grant Vietnamese citizenship to “Doan Van Nirut” and “Doan Van Sakda” as scheduled.
This move will raise the number of footballers of foreign origin in HAGL to five, creating a considerable advantage for the team.
In addition, Lee Nguyen will also receive Vietnamese nationality as of April 1. Lee Nguyen will then bear two nationalities - Vietnamese and American - according to the Vietnamese Law on Nationality.
