A commercial company from Vietnam has been permitted by the Lao Government to invest US$4.5 million in exploring copper mines on an area of 128 sq. km in Saynhabouly province of Laos.

Accordingly, the Vietnamese company in the central province of Quang Tri, which borders Laos, will do the exploration for 18 months, conduct feasibility study for 24 months and spend 12 months writing an economic analysis of the project.

The memorandum of understanding was signed in Vientiane, Laos, on July 6 by Deputy Director of the Lao Committee for Planning and Investment Thoongmi Phommisay and Director of the Quang Tri company Hoang Duc Duc.
