Canadian hostage killed by Philippines militant group

The militant group Abu Sayyaf in the southern part of the Philippines killed a Canadian hostage after its ransom demand was not met, according to the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

A group’s spokesman named Abu Raami was cited as saying he called to inform the newspaper that the victim was Robert Hall and his body would be seen somewhere else in Jolo town on June 13.

The group demanded a ransom of PHP600 million  (over US$13 million) for Robert Hall and gave a deadline of 3:00 pm on June 13.

Earlier, on April 25, this terrorist group killed another Canadian citizen named John Risdell for the same reason.

The aforesaid hostages were taken by the group from a resort on Samal island on September 21, 2015.

The Philippine police said they are verifying the information.
