The first cultural festival for the Chinese community in Vietnam will be launched in Ho Chi Minh City from February 28 to March 4 to enjoy the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.

The Ministry of Culture and Information will coordinate with HCM City authorities to organize the event, in an effort to preserve and promote the ethnic culture of the Chinese community living across the country, said Dinh Quang Ngu, Deputy Minister of Culture and Information.

Visitors to the festival will have opportunities to enjoy a wide range of folk arts, including songs, dances, music, and games, as well as shows of traditional costume, calligraphy, painting and Chinese culinary art.

A seminar will be held during the festival to discuss ways of improving the cultural life of the Chinese community in the Doi Moi (Renovation) era.
