Bamboo tree receives int’l awards

(VOV) -‘Blooming Bamboo home’ designed by Vietnam's H&P Architects has surpassed 1,500 outstanding projects to be named on a shortlist for the WAN Small Spaces Award in the world’s largest architectural awards.

This bamboo house is a solution for the people in Vietnam who face the natural disasters of storm, flood, sweeping floods, landslides and drought.

The users can build the house by themselves in 25 days using local materials and can be mass produced.

With bamboo modules of four to five centimetres in diameter and 3.3m or 6.6m in length, each house can be simply assembled with bolts, the bamboo bound together, hung and put in place.

This structure is strong enough to withstand phenomena such as floodwaters that are up to 1.5m in height. The bamboo structure has multifunctional uses. It can be used as a house, and an educational, medical and community centre, and can be expanded, if necessary.

Moreover, ‘Blooming Bamboo home’ has also named in the final round of Architizer+Awards 2015-the biggest award programme for architecture in the world.

The list of winners will also be announced at Times Square in New York on April 14.
