Facing a further decrease in world prices, the domestic price of gold fell by another VND300,000 per tael on the morning of December 18.

By 10.40am, SJC gold at the Sai Gon Jewelry Company was listed at VND26.78-26.90 million per tael. Meanwhile, SBJ gold stood at VND26.81-27.10 million/tael, down by VND200,000-290,000/tael compared to transaction the previous day.

Gold trading appeared rather quiet as prices continued falling.

The domestic price of gold was badly affected by global prices. By 10.23am, in Asian market, the price of gold was US$1,107.60 per ounce, a reduction of 3 percent against previous transaction.

On the New York market, at closing time on December 17, the price of gold stood at US$1,097.80 per ounce.

Another influence was the sharp decrease in the price of oil, which now stays at US$72.65 per barrel.
