Representatives from enterprises in central Da Nang city and five major Dutch companies gathered at a seminar entitled "Da Nang, a destination for Netherlands- Vietnam business cooperation" held in the city on September 12.

Economic and Commercial Charge d'affaires of the Netherlands Embassy in Hanoi Hanspeter Verhoeff, said the workshop aimed to boost economic and trade ties between businesses of the Netherlands and Da Nang, and Vietnam as a whole.

The official noted that there are opportunities for Dutch businesses to invest in seaports, shipbuilding, seafood processing, safe water supply, waste treatment and environmental protection in Da Nang - one of Vietnam's largest economic centres.

Da Nang
has attracted 81 foreign-invested projects and more than 180 representative offices and branches of foreign-invested and foreign companies with  combined capital of nearly US$650 million. Da Nang is calling for foreign investment in 67 projects.

The Netherlands has carried out a number of bilateral cooperation projects relating to health care and gender, forestry development and bio-diversification, and water management in Vietnam.
