The 15-member council was established under a decision issued by Justice Minister Ha Hung Cuong, who is also head of the steering committee for the congress.

National Assembly Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu said the move indicated the growth of the local lawyer circle in the face of challenges posed by the nation’s international integration and competition from foreign law firms.

The establishment of the national council will help to develop a contingent of competent lawyers, he added.
