Education ministry to review postgraduate syllabuses

The Ministry of Education and Training has asked universities and institutes for Doctorate degree certification for a strict review of their syllabuses.

The ministry review will assess the quality of Doctorate-degree training schools that have been established since 2013. It will also force training universities to supplement and update their syllabuses, according to the ministry.

Schools will report the number of their lecturers (including the percentage of professors teaching), managers and staff. The schools will also report on their overseas library online resources, the number of graduates since 2013 as well as their current infrastructure, equipment, and documents.

Training schools must submit their reports to the ministry before June 30. The final reports will be made public through the online database of each institute.

Failing to report, not publishing the complete report online on time, reporting information unsubstantiated by public databases, and duplicating the teaching programmes of other training institutes without authorisation all infringe Vietnamese education law.

Institutes violating education law will have their operations suspended.
