The 39th international conference on tuberculosis prevention taking place on October 16-17 in Paris, France saw the participation of many experts from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and across the world, including Vietnam.

At the conference, the experts mentioned many measures to prevent the spread of tuberculosis. Participants also discussed challenges they faced during their campaigns to prevent the disease, stressing that along with preventive methods, it is also necessary to invest more in medical equipment for treatment.

Currently, there are around 2.2 billion tuberculosis sufferers in the world. Although 82 percent of the patients can be successfully treated, the number of sufferers detected accounts for only 37 percent of the total patients, which amounts to at least 1 percent of the world’s population suffering from the disease every year, according to the WHO.
