Speaking to local authorities during a conference on building and developing Can Tho “in the time of industrialisation and modernisation” on August 20, Mr Hung also urged the city to review its planning and concentrate on constructing modern infrastructure.
He added that the city should mobilise external help to attract investment from both domestic and foreign sectors.
“The city needs to focus on building industrial zones, which use advanced technology, especially in the processing, garment and textile industries. This will help create jobs, not only for the locals but for others living in the Mekong Delta as well”, he said.
For the past two years, Can Tho has implemented the Politburo’s Resolution 45-NQ/TW on industrialisation and modernisation, and the city now achieves an annual economic growth of 15.99 percent. Average annual income has reached VND15.67 million per person.
