About 300 shipbuilders from 20 countries and territories are showcasing their products and services at an international maritime equipment and shipbuilding exhibition which opened in Ho Chi Minh City on February 25.

The 2009 Maritime Vietnam Expo saw the participation of many internationally-accredited shipbuilders, including those from the Netherlands, the Republic of Koreas, Germany, Norway, Singapore, the United Kingdom and China.

On display are products and advanced technology for shipbuilding and maintenance, seaports, sea-faring vessels, and forwarding services.

A seminar will be held during the event, focusing on the development trends of international maritime transport and its impact on Vietnam. Delegates from Australia, the Netherlands, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and the UK will discuss financial risk management in maritime transport and seaport planning in Vietnam with a focus on seaport development in southern Vietnam.

The expo will end on February 27.
