State President Nguyen Minh Triet has asked the construction sector to perfect mechanisms for project implementation and urban management and development as well as building policies aimed at developing the real estate market.

A ceremony was held in Hanoi on April 28 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the construction sector and to receive the Ho Chi Minh Order from State President Nguyen Minh Triet.

In his speech, Mr Triet highlighted the significant contributions made by the construction sector during the past 50 years, which he said, has improved the urban environment. However, the sector still has weaknesses in building consistent legal documents on construction and architecture while its designing and zoning capacity remains weak, said Mr Triet.

The State leader asked the construction sector to revamp the legal system and streamline administrative procedures in order to facilitate people’s involvement in construction activities.

He also stressed the need to raise the capacity and quality of zoning work, make public and supervise construction projects in order to create a legal foundation for investment and construction management.

The sector needs to apply advanced construction technology to increase the quality of projects and shorten construction time while developing a number of powerful economic groups that can compete in the international integration process, said Mr Triet.
