The newly accredited Chinese ambassador to Vietnam, Sun Quoqiang, has pledged to do his best to strengthen the comprehensive cooperation and strategic partnership between China and Vietnam.

The diplomat made the statement at a reception hosted by National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong in Hanoi on January 5.

The Chinese Party, State and people always attach great importance to fostering the relationship with Vietnam, said the ambassador.

However, he said the two countries should work harder together to meet their people’s expectations. He suggested that both China and Vietnam boost the exchange of experience and cooperation in overcoming the difficulties caused by the global financial crisis.

For his part, NA Chairman Trong expressed his admiration at the achievements made by the Chinese people last year under the leadership of the Communist Party of China during their national development course.

He lauded the completion of land border demarcation and marker planting as an important historic event in bilateral ties, saying this will facilitate the development cooperation between border localities.
He affirmed that the Vietnamese legislative body will do its utmost to help promote the relationship between Vietnam and China which was founded and nurtured by the late Presidents Ho Chi Minh and Mao Zedong.

He expressed his hope that the ambassador will continue to promote the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
