Vietnam ranks 6th among international students in US

There are 21,403 Vietnamese students in the US, giving the Southeast Asian nation the sixth largest source of international students in the country.

In the 2015-2016 academic year, 67.2% of Vietnamese students were enrolled in undergraduate courses while another 15.1% pursued graduate degrees, according to 2016 Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange.

About 7.8 percent take part in practical training and 9.9% follow non-degree courses such as English language or short-term ones in the US.

Vietnam currently has the biggest number of students in the US among ASEAN countries.

The annual report was compiled by the Institute of International Education and the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the US Department of State.
