The medical sector has diversified its international cooperation to attract various foreign aid sources and receive advanced science and technology, said Health Minister Nguyen Quoc Trieu.

Addressing a training conference on international cooperation in the medical sector in Hanoi on September 20, Minister Trieu asked the medical sector to expand its cooperation with foreign donors and partners and international scientific centres and effectively coordinate aid sources for the sector.

The Ministry of Public Health has so far established cooperative relations with more than 100 non-government and international organisations, international banks, bilateral and multilateral financial funds, universities, research institutes and scientific centres in around 60 countries and territories.

Over the past five years, the ministry has signed seven agreements at government level, 14 cooperation documents at ministerial level and two agreements within the framework of ASEAN cooperation.

The ministry has also sent nearly 10,000 medical experts to work in Africa.
