Bus reduced to charred metal after catching fire in central Vietnam

At least 35 passengers were safely evacuated after the bus they were riding in suddenly caught fire in Quang Nam on June 8.

The sleeper bus was heading south on National Route 1A when it caught fire around 6.10 p.m. No one was injured in the incident, according to Major Nguyen Duy Phuong, an officer of Quang Nam Traffic Police.

Witnesses said the fire started at the back of the bus, which was soon engulfed in flames.

Two fire engines were dispatched to the scene but the vehicle was reduced to a charred metal frame.

The driver, Nguyen Quy, 34, told the police that the bus carried "about" 35 passengers.
The police are investigating the cause of the fire.
