Vietnam defeated China 2-0 at the ongoing international futsal tournament, which kicked off at the Quan Ngua Sports Palace in Hanoi on October 7.

In their opening match, defending champions Vietnam took the lead against their Chinese rivals with two goals in the first half.

Under the leadership of Italian coach Sergio Gargelli, the Vietnamese players performed well to maintain the 2-1 score until the end of the match despite China’s strategic attacks.

The same day, Uzbekistan beat Qatar 6-1 and will face Vietnam in their second match on October 9.

This year’ tournament attracted four teams from Uzbekistan, Qatar, China and Vietnam. It provides a good chance for the Vietnamese team to practice for the 26th SEA Games and the 2012 Asian Futsal Tournament qualifiers later this year.

The winners of the tournament will receive a cash prize of US$5,000, while the second and third place teams will pocket US$3,000 and US$1,000, respectively. The most valuable player, top scorer and best goalkeeper will receive US$200 each.
